Summary

In July 1958, four observers in Taylor Bay near Taylor Glacier witnessed an unusual light phenomenon. The event occurred at 13:00 hours under a mostly clear sky with a pinkish twilight glow. Two distinct forms of light and shadow moved for 20 minutes, first in the eastern sector and then toward the north. One phenomenon was an undefined shadow blob moving rapidly from right to left, likened to a high-speed car. The other consisted of parallel rays moving with regularity, brighter than the sky and with contrasting colors.

The observers lacked instruments for precise measurements, so their descriptions are qualitative. The lack of equipment limited the accuracy of the data, but the testimonies agree on a strange and well-defined phenomenon. The movement of the objects from east to north was gradual, with a decrease in frequency in the east and an increase in the north. Although the nature of the phenomenon remains uncertain, its structured and repetitive behavior suggests something beyond a common optical illusion.
