In 1977, a series of sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) in northeastern Brazil generated fear and speculation. Testimonies from people who claimed to have been attacked by an intense and mysterious light, causing symptoms such as burns, dizziness, and panic attacks, reached even authorities and media. The situation escalated to the point where the local population in cities like Viseu and Bragança began organizing processions and firing rockets to try to drive away what they called "the creature."
Authorities, noticing the growing interest and paranoia, decided to intervene. The 1st Air Command Regional (COMAR) sent an intelligence unit to investigate the reports. During their operations, they managed to photograph an object estimated to be moving at approximately 30,000 km/h and at an altitude of about 3,000 meters. However, the images obtained were ambiguous, showing blurred spots on the film that did not allow for a clear identification. The team members did not reach a consensus on what they had actually observed, generating more questions than answers.
In addition to civilian testimonies, doctors and priests also reported strange phenomena. A local doctor described unusual symptoms in patients affected by the light, while a Mexican priest claimed to have seen a silent, luminous object over the city. The situation was so alarming that
