Summary

On the night of 7–8 September 1999, an amateur astronomer observing the Andromeda galaxy from Dinan (Côtes-d'Armor) noticed a silent brown barrel-shaped object. It moved at constant speed on a north-south heading before abruptly veering northeast, then returning north. The sighting lasted about sixty seconds and the witness produced a sketch.

The investigation involved nearby airfields and both civil and military authorities. No matching flight record or radar trace was found, and the phenomenon remained unexplained.
