On October 31, 2006, a motorist in Mortagne-sur-Sèvre observed a flickering white light moving slowly behind the clouds. The investigation revealed a simple explanation: it was an electric garland installed on a nearby viaduct. Adverse weather conditions prevented the witness from correctly identifying the light source, creating a misperception.
The gendarmerie ruled out any anomalous phenomenon. GEIPAN classified the case as A, confirming no unexplained elements remained after analysis.
